Sahyog

2nd of August was Ladies' Night - a cultural program titled "Sahyog" organised by the Women's Welfare Organization. They had invited "Abhas Joshi", a local singer who made it big on the national scene.

The program itself was not so bad, except that it was preceded by an hour of monotonous speeches - typical sarkari stuff, with everyone thanking everyone else for their support and guidance.

I have often wondered: Do these speakers really think anybody listens to them. People are waiting for Abhas to come on, and here they are - going on and on. Somebody coined a term - "Mikasur", which applies to people who become "Asur" (Devil) when a mike is handed to them. Well there are many of them out there.

But the food was excellent and for once, everybody got to eat without much of a fuss.
